Top 4 Remaining Recruits for 2012

With 23 verbal commitments, Alabama should technically have 2 scholarships remaining to complete the maximum of signees set forth by the SEC earlier this year. That said, I'm sure there are loopholes in the system.

Week 4 Review

Dominating an injury-plagued Arkansas defense, Alabama's offense delivered a balanced attack with 197-yds passing and 200-yds rushing. RB Trent Richardson led the way with 126-yds rushing and 85-yds receiving. By contrast, Arkanasas' one-dimensional, pass-oriented offense struggled against consistent QB pressure from the front seven and tight coverage from the secondary. Next week, The Tide will go on the road against the young, but talented, Florida Gators who are already challenging for the SEC East Division. In my opinion, Florida will be Alabama's first opponent who matches man-for-man in both speed and strength. This game will be closer than most Tide fans expect, and a win is nowhere near guaranteed. Look for Florida to challenge QB AJ McCarron by forcing him to throw early and often by stacking the line of scrimmage with 8-9 defenders.

Week 3 Review

As expected, Alabama trounced an over-matched North Texas in a 41-0 shutout. Alabama RBs, Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy, each had 150+ rushing yards and 2 TDs. Again, the Defense played to expectations, holding The Mean Green to only 169-yards total. Both the 2nd Team Offense and 2nd Team Defense played considerable minutes in the 2nd Half which should boost The Tide's ability to rotate fresh players as the season continues. The only negative outcome was starting SS Robert Lester being assisted off the field after a collision with a North Texas receiver - no word yet on the significance of the injury. SEC play officially begins with 'Bama hosting Arkansas this Saturday.

Big SEC Matchup on Thu, Sep 15

#3 LSU at #25 Mississippi State 7:00pm CST ESPN

Week 2 Review

Bolstered by AJ McCarron's poise and a stout Defense, Alabama delivered a convincing win on the road. Trent Richardson's 111-yards and 2-TDs came behind an O-Line that continues to improve. The Tide's Front 7 and Secondary adapted quickly to a strong Penn State initial drive and ultimately held the Nittany Lions to 11 points and 251 total yards. Next week, Alabama returns to Tuscaloosa to face North Texas.

Week 1 Review

Alabama 48 Kent State 7
Despite a somewhat shaky O-Line and QB performance, Alabama dominated Kent State with an expected, solid Defense. If Alabama's offense does not markedly improve in Week 2, Penn State will have a legitimate chance at upsetting a #2 team.
